Ventura County Volleyball Club Announces Promotion

Ventura County Volleyball Club announced today that it has promoted Head Coach, Owen Yoshimoto to Director of Boys Volleyball.

“I am excited to promote Owen to Director of Boys Volleyball at VCVC. His recent years of playing men’s volleyball for Pepperdine and years of coaching in our boys and girls programs will be a tremendous asset,” said Club Director Steve Yoshimoto in a press release. “Owen is a teacher and strategist who will be successful in developing young volleyball players into outstanding student-athletes. I am looking forward to the impact that Owen will have on our boys program.”

Owen had a successful high school career with Camarillo High School where he led his team to the CIF Finals, earning All-CIF 1st Team Recognition. He was also named Ventura County Player of the Year (2013). Not only is Owen an elite Indoor Volleyball player but Owen is also an elite beach volleyball player. He has his AAA Rating and has consistently ranked #1 in the CBVA U-18 division in 2012 and 2013 and currently represents the USA National team in the U-19 division. Owen has been fortunate to be able to play and learn “great coaching” from David Hunt, Pepperdine Mens Volleyball Head Coach and the legendary Marv Dunphy, Head Coach Emeritus. His experience gained at Pepperdine will be invaluable to Ventura County Volleyball Club’s entire program.

“I look forward to my new role as Boys Director at VCVC. I feel I’ve been successful as a volleyball player. I am eager to put that energy and focus towards being a successful director and coach,” Owen said in a press release. “It’s easy to be excited about the potential and future of VCVC. I’m ready to get to work.”
